Gagan Thapa Commends Government’s Action on Krishna Mahara’s Arrest
In a significant development following the arrest of Maoist Center leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa expressed gratitude towards the government for its decisive action, emphasizing the importance of accountability.
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Monday, Thapa commended the government for acting upon the findings of the Commission of Inquiry. “The commission has submitted its report, and recently Krishna Mahara was arrested. Thanks to the government,” Thapa remarked.
Thapa underscored the necessity of ongoing scrutiny, stating, “We must question the government if not all those identified by the commission are apprehended. Not a single individual designated by this commission should evade justice. It is our duty to hold the government accountable.”
Krishna Mahara was apprehended by police at Bhairahawa on Monday morning and has since been transported to Kathmandu for further legal proceedings.
