Global IME Bank Takes Top Spot as Nepal’s Highest Taxpayer in Banking Sector

In a notable fiscal achievement, Global IME Bank has secured the position of the highest taxpayer among all banks and financial institutions in Nepal for the fiscal year 2078-79. The bank’s substantial contribution to the national exchequer includes a corporate tax payment of Rs. 3,200 million during this period.

As of now, Global IME Bank stands as the largest bank in Nepal, boasting an impressive paid-up capital of Rs. 35.77 billion. Its ascent to this leading position began in 2007 when it was established as a commercial bank. Since then, the bank has strategically grown through mergers and acquisitions, incorporating 21 banks and financial institutions into its framework. This comprehensive integration includes five commercial banks, ten development banks, and six finance companies.

The bank’s commitment to modernization and digital transformation is evident through its active pursuit of digitization. Embracing the ‘Vision-2025’ strategic plan, Global IME Bank aims to double its business by leveraging modern technologies and fostering digitization initiatives.

Global IME Bank has successfully established a nationwide presence with an extensive network of 350 branches, 369 ATM counters, 322 branchless units, and 64 extension counters, effectively covering all 77 districts of Nepal. Additionally, the bank has expanded its footprint globally, with representative offices strategically located in London (UK), New Delhi (India), and Sydney (Australia), maintaining three international contact points.

With a robust customer base exceeding 4.2 million and a dedicated workforce of over 4,000 employees, Global IME Bank continues to strengthen its foothold as a pivotal player in Nepal’s banking sector. The bank’s consistent commitment to innovation, expansion, and financial responsibility positions it as a key contributor to the economic landscape of the country.
