Gold Price Nears Rs 200,000 per Tola in Nepal, Hits Record High

The price of gold in Nepal has surged to an all-time high, nearing the Rs 200,000 mark per tola, as global market rates continue to climb sharply.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Federation, the price of gold has reached Rs 197,900 per tola (11.66 grams) in the domestic market today — an increase of Rs 6,900 compared to Monday. This marks the highest recorded gold price in Nepal’s trading history.

Silver has also seen a modest uptick, rising by Rs 10 per tola. It is now priced at Rs 1,970 per tola.

In the international market, gold is currently being traded at USD 3,479 per ounce, reflecting a strong global demand that continues to influence local pricing trends.

Market analysts attribute the price hike to geopolitical uncertainties, increased investor interest in safe-haven assets, and weakening global currencies, which have collectively pushed gold prices to historic levels.

The rapid rise in gold prices has drawn attention from both investors and consumers in Nepal, particularly ahead of the upcoming wedding and festival season, when gold traditionally sees high demand.
