The Ministry of Home Affairs has strongly condemned the violent protests carried out by pro-monarchy demonstrators in Kathmandu’s Tinkune area on Friday, stating that such actions undermine constitutional freedoms and democratic values.
In an official statement, the Ministry expressed serious concern over incidents of vandalism and arson targeting private properties, hospitals, media offices, political party buildings, commercial centers, and public transportation. Labeling these acts as illegal and inhumane, the Ministry held the protest organizers fully responsible for the violence.
The government emphasized that Nepal’s Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and free expression but does not tolerate violent or undemocratic activities. It reiterated that democracy protects the rights of all communities, including different classes, castes, genders, regions, and religions, and that no one benefits from violent and politically motivated disturbances.
The Ministry urged the public to refrain from participating in such unlawful activities and reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the rule of law. It warned that anyone involved in criminal acts during the protests would be held accountable and brought to justice.
