Government Forms Inquiry Commission to Tackle Gold Smuggling
The government has announced the establishment of a four-member inquiry commission led by Judge Dilliram Acharya to investigate the issue of gold smuggling comprehensively. The commission will subsequently provide a report with recommendations.
Government Spokesperson Minister Rekha Sharma disclosed that the decision to form this inquiry commission was reached during an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers on Sunday. The proposal for this initiative was initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The newly constituted commission includes Kishorejung Karki from the Ministry of Finance, Premraj Joshi from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and former AIG Sahakul Thapa.
This step signifies a significant move towards addressing and resolving the critical problem of gold smuggling within the nation.
Previously, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli held discussions with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to explore ways to curb gold smuggling.
