Govt Appoints Shyamlal Gyawali as New CIB Chief
The government has appointed Nepal Police AIG Shyamlal Gyawali as the new head of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). This decision came following the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs during a cabinet meeting held today.
The previous CIB Chief, AIG Kiran Bajracharya, has been reassigned to the Nepal Police Headquarters Operations Department amidst ongoing controversy surrounding a gold smuggling case. However, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma clarified that Bajracharya’s transfer was not a punitive measure, but rather a routine administrative action.
Minister Sharma emphasized that the appointment of Gyawali as the new CIB chief aims to facilitate the implementation of measures outlined in the report on gold smuggling. She further stated that such transfers are part of the government’s regular administrative procedures.
