Gyanendra Shahi Calls for PM Dahal’s Resignation
Gyanendra Shahi, the chief whip of Nepal’s Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Shahi made the demand during a session of the House of Representatives, citing a war crime case registered against Prachanda in the Supreme Court.
According to Shahi, the Supreme Court has summoned Prachanda to appear in court on May 30 in relation to the war crime allegations. Shahi argued that in the interest of fair proceedings, the Prime Minister should step down, allowing the legal process to take its course without any interference.
Following the demand made by Shahi, for the resignation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, there has been a swift response from Madhav Sapkota, an MP of the CPN-Maoist Center. Sapkota has called for the removal of Shahi’s statement from the parliamentary record.
