Had Rabi Been Offered Prime Minister by NC? Audio Recording Secure, Claims RSP VP
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice President and Labour Minister Dol Prasad Aryal has claimed that the audio recording of the Prime Minister’s proposal from the Nepali Congress to RSP President Rabi Lamichhane is secure.
After leaving the meeting of the House of Representatives, Aryal asserted that the audio of the telephone conversation regarding the proposal from the Congress is safe. He further stated that the record will be produced on any day if necessary.
When queried about the proposal by reporters, he emphasized the importance of confidentiality in such matters. He mentioned that the telephone conversation has been recorded and can be retrieved if required in the future.
Aryal asserted that the Nepali Congress proposed Rabi for the Prime Minister by encouraging him not to join the Prachanda-led government.
Meanwhile, the Congress claims that Rabi employed the Congress card to exert pressure on the Home Minister.
After the Prime Minister, Prachanda, left the coalition with the Nepali Congress, he joined forces with CPN-UML, RSP, JSP, and the Unified Socialist Party. In this new coalition, Rabi was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
A debate is unfolding as Nepali Congress has called for the resignation of Rabi Lamichhane from his ministerial position on moral grounds.
“He should not have been appointed as the Home Minister given the questions surrounding him. The Prime Minister should not have appointed a person with such questions as the Home Minister. People have been deceived in 31,000 cooperatives. How can the problems of the victims be solved when the person under investigation is appointed as the head of the investigation department?” remarked lawmaker Pradeep Paudel during today’s Parliament session.
It is true that Home Minister Lamichhane is accused of misappropriating deposits from a cooperative.
The controversy surrounding Lamichhane’s appointment has exposed what many perceive as double standards within the Nepali Congress. Initially proposing Lamichhane for the Prime Ministerial position, the party now questions his capability to serve as Home Minister, leading to accusations of inconsistency and political opportunism.
