Health Minister Stresses Efficient Resource Utilization at National Review Meeting

Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel has emphasized the need for Nepal to maximize the benefits from its limited resources. Addressing a national joint annual review meeting organized by the Ministry of Health and Population today, the Minister acknowledged challenges posed by a resource crunch and called for strategic utilization of the available budget.

“Owing to resource constraints, certain programs could not be launched. Our focus should be on ensuring that available resources are optimally utilized within the budget,” Minister Paudel remarked. He also noted that the lack of an actionable plan had hindered proper budget spending.

Minister Paudel underscored the importance of improving sanitation in hospitals to maintain public trust in health services. He also called for clear and visible information on fees for various health services and urged health facilities to adopt plastic-free practices.

The review meeting, which brought together officials from various departments, including health, ayurveda, and drug administration under the Ministry, took stock of the progress and activities carried out in the past year.

The review session is set to continue until Friday, with discussions expected to focus on addressing gaps and setting priorities for the upcoming year in Nepal’s health sector.
