Health Ministry Directs Hospitals to Provide Remuneration through Banking System

The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a circular mandating that remuneration for nursing and health workers be provided through the banking system. This decision is part of the Ministry’s efforts to ensure that minimum wages and benefits are properly provided to healthcare workers.

Dr. Raj Kumar Pandey, Chief of the Quality Measurement and Regulation Division, issued the circular, which applies to government hospitals, medical colleges, and community private hospitals. The move comes after the Ministry received complaints regarding the benefits and facilities for nursing staff, particularly.

In addition to regular remuneration, the Ministry has also instructed hospitals to arrange additional allowances for workers who exceed their stipulated working hours. Hospitals are further directed to appoint human resources on contract agreements, prohibiting the use of wage-based staffing and the practice of retaining original educational certificates of staff members at hospital offices.

The Ministry emphasized that workers must be given a letter of experience upon completion of their duties and that all payments should be made through the banking system to ensure transparency and accountability.
