Heavy Rainfall Expected in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall in several provinces, with the weather remaining partly to mostly cloudy across Nepal. Light to moderate rainfall is currently taking place in parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as isolated areas in other regions.
The ongoing showers are being attributed to the monsoon winds still active across the country. The department has warned of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning this afternoon in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, and in some areas of Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Notably, there is a risk of heavy rainfall in one or two hilly locations in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, raising concerns about potential localized flooding and landslides in those regions.
For tonight, the forecast predicts partly cloudy to mostly clear skies across the country’s hilly areas. However, residents in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali should still be prepared for light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at some locations.
The Department continues to monitor the situation and advises the public to stay updated on weather conditions, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
