High Protocol Security for Emir of Qatar’s Visit to Nepal

Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar is scheduled to arrive in Nepal today at 5 PM, amidst stringent security arrangements usually reserved for visiting heads of state. Upon arrival, the Emir will be escorted to the Soaltee Hotel under a high protocol security detail.

A high-security source disclosed to Republica, “He is arriving at 5 o’clock in the evening and will be directly taken to the Soaltee Hotel from the airport under high security. High protocol security arrangements have been put in place, similar to those for heads of state, including the one from India.”

The Emir’s visit marks his first official two-day tour to Nepal, during which he is expected to stay at the Soaltee Hotel. The security for the visit will be notably provided by the Nepali Army, with additional support from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, as stated by security officials.

In an exceptional move, the government has declared a public holiday tomorrow, April 22nd, to mark the significance of this official visit. The decision was finalized in today’s Cabinet meeting.

The visit is seen by foreign experts as a significant opportunity for Nepal, potentially leading to enhanced Qatari investments and strengthened bilateral relations. Topics such as the rescue of the missing Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi in Hamas, potential labor agreements, and investment opportunities in sectors like hydropower and technology transfer are expected to be discussed.

Mishal Bin Mohammad Ali Al Ansari, Qatar’s ambassador to Nepal, commented on the prospective outcomes of the visit, stating, “The Emir’s visit will strengthen the relationship between Qatar and Nepal, expanding areas of mutual cooperation.”

As part of his Asian tour, which also includes stops in the Philippines and Bangladesh, Emir Thani is leading a delegation focused on signing key agreements and memorandums of understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation. A notable agenda item for the visit is refining the labor agreement between Qatar and Nepal.

The government and the people of Nepal are geared up to host the Emir, with anticipations of fostering deeper bilateral ties and unlocking new avenues for cooperation.
