Home Minister Lekhak Unveils Plans for Dodhara Chandani Checkpoint, Addresses Political Alliance and Nirmala Panta Case
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has announced that the government aims to develop Dodhara Chandani in Kanchanpur as the largest checkpoint, with discussions ongoing to make Kanchanpur a tri-national border. He also shared that plans are in place to establish an immigration office at Tinkar in Darchula, connecting Kanchanpur with China. Speaking at a Press Union event in Mahendranagar, Lekhak noted India’s readiness to construct the Dohara Chandani dry port, with construction expected to begin soon.
Addressing recent political developments, he confirmed a new alliance between CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress, based on a seven-point agreement, set to last until the next election. Additionally, Lekhak highlighted his commitment to a thorough investigation of the Nirmala Panta murder case, a 2018 incident involving the rape and killing of a 13-year-old girl in Kanchanpur.
