Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak Calls for Improved Public Image of Immigration Office
Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has emphasized the need for the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to enhance its public image. During an inspection of the office in Kathmandu today, Minister Lekhak expressed concern over the negative perceptions held by citizens and passengers regarding the office’s services.
He warned that any misconduct or untoward activities within the immigration office would not be tolerated, stressing the importance of professionalism. “The international airport is like a mirror to any country. It is the first impression foreign travelers have of Nepal, reflecting our values and hospitality,” Lekhak stated, urging immigration officers to be professional, tolerant, amicable, and service-oriented.
Minister Lekhak also called for better coordination between the immigration department and other public agencies at the airport to improve service delivery.
During the visit, immigration staff raised concerns about the lack of adequate space and infrastructure at TIA, which hinders their ability to work efficiently. They also highlighted the need for training to better equip employees with updated skills.
Minister Lekhak was accompanied by Gokarna Mani Duwadi, Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, during the inspection.
