‘I became a candidate for NA Chair due to my contributions to the party’
CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Narayan Dahal, who is a candidate for the post of the National Assembly Chair on behalf of the ruling coalition, has said his candidacy is in the context of his contribution to and the responsibility in the party.
Responding to the media after filing his candidacy, he said, “Generally, even when I was given the responsibility of the party’s Province Joint In-charge, my appointment used to be linked with the family of party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. This allegation has not been made for the first time.”
Leader Dahal was referring to the allegation that he was made the candidate because he and party Chair Prachanda are close family relatives.
Stating that the people who are not aware of his active participation in and contribution to the party since 2036 BS have been levelling this allegation against him, he said it would be an injustice to him to frequently make such allegations by ignoring his role and contribution.
“I am getting the responsibility commensurate with my contribution. The entire party has with one voice decided to make me the candidate for the NA Chair. This should not be taken as something inappropriate,” leader Dahal added.
