ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2: Nepal sweeps the tri-series
Nepal have swept the tri-series involving Namibia and Scotland under the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 that concluded at the Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University cricket ground on Tuesday.
Nepal won to Scotland in the final match of the ICC World Cup League-2 triangular series today.
Skipper Rohit Paudel unbeaten 95 runs and and Sandeep Lamichhane’s impressive bowling gave Nepal a two-wicket victory over Scotland.
Winning the toss, Nepal elected to field first restricting Scotland to 212 runs in 46.1 overs. George Munsey scored 60 runs off 50 balls before being caught leg before off Sandeep Lamichhane’s delivery in 13.5 overs. Matthew Cross scored 42 runs, Brandon McMullen hit another 31 while Kyle Coetzer and Christopher McBride put up 22 runs each on the board.
For Nepal, Lamichhane took four Scotland wickets while Karan KC bagged another three. Lalit Rajbanshi and Kushal Malla claim one wicket each for Nepal.
Nepal met the target of 213-run in 44.1overs at the loss of eight wickets. Captain Poudel hammered 95 runs facing 101 balls. He stroke 7 fours and 4 sixes.
Likewise, Kushal Malla gathered 31 runs, including 2 fours and 1 six facing 37 deliveries.
With this result, Nepal has won all four matches of the triangular match. This is the first time Nepal won all four matches of the series.
Nepal has 26 points from 28 matches, now.
UAE is in fifth place in the League-2 table. It has 27 points in 26 games.
