ICC T20 World Cup: Nepal to Face Netherlands in Opening Match Today

Nepal’s wait for the ICC T20 World Cup is finally over. After a decade-long hiatus, Nepal is set to begin its World Cup journey, taking on the Netherlands at the Grand Prairie Cricket Ground in Dallas, USA.

This marks Nepal’s second appearance in the T20 World Cup, with their first participation being in Bangladesh in 2014. The highly anticipated match between Nepal and the Netherlands is scheduled to start at 9:30 pm Nepali time.

The Nepali team, which arrived in the USA a month earlier to prepare for the tournament, has expressed confidence in their readiness. During a press conference held after Monday’s practice session, Rohit Paudel, the captain of the Nepali team, affirmed their determination to start the World Cup journey with a victory against the Netherlands. He also noted the similarity of the Grand Prairie Stadium to their home ground at Tribhuvan University, expressing optimism about strong support from Nepali fans.

“Since coming to America, we have received a lot of love from our supporters here. It feels like we will have even more support in this field, similar to the atmosphere at our home ground,” Paudel remarked. “For us, this is both an opportunity and a responsibility. We aim to make our fans happy and proud by playing excellent cricket.”
