In today’s digital age, cybercrime is one of the most hot and most discussed topic. The concept of hacking which is part of cybercrime involves the use of modern technology and computer systems, cybercrime is a relatively modern phenomenon that emerged with the advent of computers and the internet in the late 20th century.

In this 21st century there is rise in the phenomenon of internet use, computer system and modern technology which is connected with internet. The more there is advance in technology, the more there is rise of cybercrime or in simple, cyber hacking. Cybercrime is a modern crime which is performed using technology which is connected to internet and performed to them who are connected to internet, it might be any equipment, any system which required internet to function there work.

In cybercrime, the most performed crime is hacking, Hacking is one the most performed cybercrime, which involves in cracking passwords, finding sensitive vulnerabilities and getting unauthorized access and leaking the data in various forums.

Current Status:
Nowadays seeing the overall world, daily there is one news regarding cybercrime. Mostly in case of Asian countries it is more seen observed in Country like Nepal, where after Covid-19 pandemic, there is rise in cybercrime in sufficient level.

Observing other Asian country Nepal has one of the most weak cyber security or it can be said there is no any cyber security or ethical hackers to control over or prevent the system from getting hacked. Every nook of the website there can be find vulnerabilities which leads hackers to takeover sensitive data and leak it I either dark web or any other platform from where it supply’s whole world, which leads to be damage in private information’s. Mostly it can be said Nepal has become an area for hacker to test their skills, moreover hacking skills.

In covid pandemic and After covid pandemic there has been huge rise in cybercrime , most over hacking attacks in websites , sometimes at national and international airport servers gets hacks , twitter of PM gets hacked, supreme court bar associations website hacked and defacement in website of government and non-governments , Vianet hack, huge DDos attack in website of Nepal and many more other cases where individuals and organizations are hampered. These are the reasons which shows among Asian country how weak there is in the cyber security of Nepal. It doesn’t mean that other Asian country cyber security is strong but in the context of Nepal it seems weaker.

It shows government of Nepal isn’t serious regarding protecting the digital freedom of citizens, there privacy and moreover the continentals document which is stored in various governmental website of Nepal. Not only crime status, the laws also doesn’t seems to be able to deal with today’s upgraded cybercrime.

Factor that makes security of Nepal weak:
There are the huge factor that makes the security of Nepal weak. Major factor is lack of seriousness of government in regard protection of privacy and digital rights of citizens. It is more observed that there is great weakness of government in rise of cybercrime in Nepal. Likewise another factor is ole of citizens. The citizens are the well trained to use the devices in perfect ways, they click on any links and installations of app which is not useful which lead them to hacker to hack into their accounts and device. Similarly it is more observed that there is huge bug in the website of Nepal, in simple sense loopholes which leads to hacker to hack into their websites and steal sensitive information’s. The admin of website are not aware in regard to upgrade their system, update the current version of websites, it might be plugins, themes and many other security measures. Moreover the more root cause is lack of resources and expertise. There is lack in resources for indefinite control cybercrime and experts to guide in order to enhance high cyber security measures in Nepal.

Need of Defense system:
Moreover the current status show that there is required of defense system for handling cybercrime in Nepal. A defense attacker is a cyber-security professional who is trained to think like an attacker and identify potential vulnerabilities in the system before they can be exploited. In general line cybercrime cannot be controlled but as it is said “prevention is better than cure”, prevention can be performed by individuals or any organizations in order to protect self from being in the trap of cyber hackers. In field of cybercrime, prevention is only the options, cure merely doesn’t work, because for example you mobile is hacked and there is important data in your mobile but once your device is hacked and data is leaked and supply, there is no more chance to retrieve the that from anywhere, once it is leaked it is leaked, so there is no cure, it is half impossible to delete the data from whole server and retrieve it. So one way of protecting is from using the theory of prevention. Likewise as the crime is increasing there is a huge need of defense system. If there is army to protect the country from attack of other countries, then there should be cyber army in order to defend the country from cyber-attacks. Likewise there should be formation of special cops which is active for 24 hours for action in cybercrime. Moreover in beginning everything is hard as the formation of cyber cops and cyber army couldn’t function without proper resources and professor, the strategy should be began with hiring hacks who were able to break security of Nepal, because they can guide them in order to improve and enhance the system more strong. Likewise inviting the cyber experts from foreign is also good idea as it will lead to learn to cyber cops in more advance, as in general line training should be given to them to act properly in controlling cybercrime. Moreover in curriculum of students of Nepal cyber technology related topics should also be incorporated, so that from root they will be aware regarding cybercrime and can be able to protect themselves from being in trap. In conclusion, Cybercrime cannot be controlled. This is a digital age. Until there is internet, there is cybercrime but cybercrime can be minimized with use of proper security measures. Either being destroy whole it is better to protect some part , so similarly being attack from hackers and losing all data without use of security measures is better than enhancing the security and if attack happen also it will be more helpful to make more security strong.
