India and Nepal Sign MoUs for 12 High-Impact Community Development Projects
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal, and various Project Implementing Agencies from Nepal signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) friday for the implementation of 12 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) across Nepal.
These projects, supported by the Government of India’s grant assistance, cover key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, drinking water, and culture, with an estimated total cost of NPR 474 million.
The 12 projects include the construction of school buildings, health centers, water supply systems, and agricultural facilities in districts including Okhaldhunga, Bhojpur, Dailekh, Saptari, Morang, Chitwan, Solukhumbu, Sunsari, Bajura, Dhading, and Dang. Notable projects are the building of the Rapti Eye Hospital’s Operation Theatre in Tulsipur, Dang, and a water supply project in Solukhumbu.
Since 2003, India has undertaken over 563 HICDPs in Nepal, with 490 completed, focusing on education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare. These projects reflect India’s ongoing support for Nepal’s development and its commitment to enhancing infrastructure and public utilities at the grassroots level.
The partnership highlights the strong, multi-sectoral cooperation between the neighboring nations, aimed at improving the lives of local communities in Nepal.
