India Approves Investment of Over 92 Billion Rupees for Arun III and Lower Arun Hydropower Projects in Nepal
The Government of India has approved an investment of 92.67 billion rupees for the development of hydropower projects in Nepal.
This substantial investment is designated for the Arun III and Lower Arun hydropower projects, with capacities of 900 MW and 669 MW respectively, being constructed by the Indian company SJVN Limited.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which sanctioned 5,792 million Indian rupees for these projects.
The approval marks a significant step forward in the collaboration between India and Nepal in the energy sector, aiming to enhance the hydropower infrastructure and energy production capabilities of Nepal.
This investment is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the energy needs of the region and boosting economic growth through improved energy security and increased cross-border cooperation.
