India Constructs 200 Prefabricated Houses in Earthquake-Hit Jajarkot

In a commendable display of solidarity, the Government of India has successfully erected 200 prefabricated houses in Jajarkot, Nepal, a district severely impacted by a recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake. The completion of these temporary shelters marks the first phase of a collaborative effort to aid the residents affected by the disaster, particularly in the Ramidanda area.

During the official handover ceremony, held during the recent visit of External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar to Kathmandu, the prefabricated houses were officially handed over to the Government of Nepal. This initiative underscores India’s unwavering commitment to supporting its neighboring country, especially during times of crises.

India’s swift response to the earthquake in Jajarkot further solidified its commitment to providing immediate assistance. As the first foreign nation to extend help, India contributed relief materials worth crores at various stages of the relief operations, demonstrating a proactive approach to disaster relief.

In an announcement made during EAM Jaishankar’s visit, the Indian government declared a grant assistance of 10 billion rupees for post-earthquake reconstruction in Nepal.
