India Firm: Arunachal Pradesh Integral, China’s Claims ‘Baseless’
In a resolute reaffirmation of its stance on Arunachal Pradesh, the Ministry of External Affairs of India reiterated that the state remains an “integral and inalienable part of India,” dismissing China’s recurring claims over the territory.
During a weekly media briefing, India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized, “Our position on the matter has been made very clear on Arunachal Pradesh time and again. China may repeat its baseless claims as many times as they want. That is not going to change the position.”
Jaiswal’s statement came in response to China’s recent assertion terming Arunachal Pradesh as “Zangan–an inherent part of China’s territory,” which was firmly rejected by India.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, speaking during a visit to Singapore, further reinforced India’s stance, dismissing China’s claims as “ludicrous.” He emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India inherently, not because of external assertions.
Addressing a question during an event at the Institute of South Asian Studies, Jaishankar stated, “The claims are ludicrous to begin with, they remain ludicrous today. And Arunachal Pradesh is part of India because it is part of India, not because some other country says it is part of India.”
India’s Ministry of External Affairs, in an official statement, reiterated its commitment to the development and welfare of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that they will continue to benefit from India’s development programs and infrastructure projects.
The steadfast reaffirmation of Arunachal Pradesh’s integral status by India comes amid ongoing tensions between the two Asian giants over territorial claims, signaling India’s unwavering commitment to its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
