India gifts 80 vehicles to EC for upcoming polls

The Government of India has provided 80 vehicles to the Election Commission.

Extending logistical support to Nepal for the conduct of the upcoming election of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly, the Indian government handed over 80 vehicles to the Election Commission.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava handed over 80 vehicles to the Chief Election Commissioner of Nepal, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya during a ceremony held on Thursday.

These vehicles will help the Election Commission to further organize the necessary arrangements for the upcoming elections.

At the request of the Government of Nepal, the Government of India on Tuesday handed over a total of 200 vehicles that would be utilized at the time of general elections slated for November 20. These 80 vehicles, which would be used by the Election Commission are part of those 200 vehicles.

The Government of India for years have been supporting Nepal with vehicles. Till now India has given about 2400 vehicles to the Government of Nepal out of which 2000 are utilized by security forces and 400 by the election commission.
