India Gives High Priority to Ties with Nepal: PM Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed that India places the highest importance on its relationship with Nepal, highlighting the enduring ties between the two neighbouring countries.

Following a bilateral meeting with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Bangkok on Thursday, PM Modi described the talks as “fruitful” and emphasized key areas of collaboration. The leaders met at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on the sidelines of the Sixth BIMSTEC Summit.

In a statement shared on social media, Prime Minister Modi said, “We discussed various aspects of Nepal-India relations, particularly in the fields of energy, connectivity, culture, and digital technology.” He also noted that the two leaders exchanged views on significant outcomes from the BIMSTEC Summit, especially those related to disaster management and maritime transport.

The one-on-one meeting between the two Prime Ministers lasted approximately 45 minutes and comes at a time when regional cooperation within BIMSTEC is gaining momentum.
