India Lays Foundation Stone for School and Hostel Buildings in Nepal’s Pyuthan District
India has reinforced its commitment to bolstering education infrastructure in Nepal with the initiation of a significant project in Pyuthan district. On Friday, a foundation stone was laid for the construction of the Shree Dang-Bang Secondary School & Hostel Buildings at Airawati Rural Municipality-1, Pyuthan district, Nepal. This project, valued at NRs 33.92 million, marks a collaborative effort under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) framework between the governments of India and Nepal.
The ceremony, graced by Nabil Bikram Shah, Chairman of Airawati Rural Municipality, and Shri Prashant Kumar Sona, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, symbolizes the deepening partnership in developmental initiatives. The new facilities, funded by the Indian government under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’, aim to enhance educational opportunities by providing modern school and hostel infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, officials highlighted the transformative impact of such projects on local communities, emphasizing the importance of education in regional development. The initiative not only underscores India’s longstanding commitment to Nepal’s socio-economic progress but also exemplifies the robust bilateral cooperation shared by the two neighboring nations.
Over the years, India has actively supported Nepal through numerous developmental projects across various sectors. Since 2003, over 551 projects have been undertaken, with 490 already completed under the HICDP initiative alone. Moreover, India’s contributions extend beyond infrastructure, including donations of ambulances and school buses, further enhancing healthcare and educational facilities across Nepal.
This initiative in Pyuthan district represents a pivotal step towards fostering sustainable development and strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Nepal.
