Indian Army Vice Chief Tours Key Defense and Educational Facilities to Boost Self-Reliance
Indian Army Vice Chief Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi made significant visits today to several defense and educational establishments, underlining India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense production.
Lt Gen Dwivedi’s tour included the Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited, an assault rifle manufacturing unit, and the Ordnance Factory Project in Korwa, known for its advanced battlefield equipment production. These visits highlight the strategic importance of indigenous manufacturing in strengthening national defense capabilities.
Further enhancing the collaborative spirit between defense and academia, Lt Gen Dwivedi also visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. He engaged in detailed discussions with the Director, faculty, and students, emphasizing the role of technical education in national development.
The tour concluded at the Adani Ammunition Complex, where Lt Gen Dwivedi commended the efforts towards achieving the ‘Aatmanirbharta’ vision—a cornerstone of India’s policy to boost indigenous industry.
