Indian Firm Awarded Contract to Manage Birgunj Dry Port

Pristine Mega Logistics Park Pvt Ltd, an Indian company, has secured the contract to operate and manage the Birgunj Inland Clearance Depot (ICD) for the next five years at a cost of Rs 4.71 billion.

According to Ashish Gajurel, Executive Director of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee, the company was selected through a technical evaluation process, where it competed against Container Corporation of India Limited, which had placed a bid of Rs 4.51 billion.

Following the contract signing, the company will assume management and operational responsibilities of the dry port from mid-July. This marks Pristine Mega Logistics Park Pvt Ltd’s second consecutive contract, having previously operated the facility for five years at Rs 3.33 billion.

Located in Sirsiya, Birgunj, the dry port spans 57 bighas and serves as a key transit point for cargo transported exclusively by rail. Established in 2000 with World Bank funding of Rs 820 million, the facility is connected to Raxaul via a railway link constructed with a Rs 200 million grant from the Government of India.

Meanwhile, the Birgunj Dry Port Customs Office has reported Rs 32.32 billion in revenue collection during the first eight months of the current fiscal year, compared to Rs 47.31 billion in the previous year.
