Indian National Defence College Delegation Strengthens Bilateral Ties During Nepal Visit

A delegation from India’s National Defence College (NDC) met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Minister of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Nepal, highlighting the strategic importance of the country for India. The high-level delegation, led by Air Vice Marshal Manish Kumar Gupta, is currently on a five-day visit to Nepal to enhance defense cooperation and collaboration between the two neighboring nations.

As a gesture of goodwill, the Indian delegation paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka. The meeting at the Ministry of Defense served as a means to delve into multiple facets of Nepal-India relations. Both sides emphasized key principles like sovereign equality, territorial integrity, and mutual benefit, indicating the alignment of Nepal’s foreign policy approach with these core values.

Moreover, the delegation engaged in a productive discussion with Foreign Minister NP Saud, spanning a wide range of bilateral interests and common concerns. This reaffirmed the shared dedication of Nepal and India to nurturing strong diplomatic ties.

One of the central moments of the visit was a significant meeting between the Indian delegation and Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma. This crucial discussion, held at the military headquarters, Jangi Adda, provided a platform for dialogues revolving around shared interests and concerns. The outcomes of these conversations highlighted Nepal and India’s steadfast commitment to reinforcing their strategic partnership, encompassing various dimensions of defense and diplomacy.

The visit commenced on Sunday with the arrival of the delegation at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). In addition to representatives from India, the delegation comprises members from friendly foreign countries including Germany, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and Oman. The presence of these diverse nations underscores the collective determination to enhance mutual defense cooperation within the region.

As the NDC delegation’s visit continues, it is expected to further solidify the longstanding ties between Nepal and India, reinforcing the bilateral partnership and paving the way for enhanced collaboration across various domains.
