A delegation of students from the Indian National Defense College (NDC), currently on a study visit to Nepal, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his residence in Baluwatar today. The 36-member team, led by Rear Admiral Sandeep S. Sandhu, NM, Senior Directing Staff (Navy) at the NDC, is in Nepal for a five-day study visit.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli praised the NDC for its significant academic contributions to defense matters and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to ensure peace and prosperity across South Asia. He noted that violence and disputes in a region that produced figures like Gautama Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi would be inconsistent with the area’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage.
Prime Minister Oli also highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and civilizational ties between Nepal and India, expressing optimism about the growing friendship between the two countries. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, and college representative Rear Admiral Sandhu were also present at the meeting.
The NDC delegation’s visit to Nepal includes tours of various religious, cultural, and tourist sites across the country, such as Pokhara, Lumbini, Janakpur, and Kathmandu. The visit aims to strengthen ties between the two nations while providing the delegation with insights into Nepal’s rich heritage and strategic significance.
