Indian Navy Ships Arrive in Philippines to Enhance Maritime Cooperation
Three Indian Navy ships have docked in the Philippines with the objective of bolstering maritime cooperation between the two nations, an official announced on Monday.
The visit is part of an “operational deployment” by the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet to the South China Sea, showcasing India’s commitment to maintaining a robust naval presence in the region.
Indian Navy vessels — INS Delhi, INS Shakti, and INS Kiltan — arrived in Manila on Sunday, where they received a warm welcome from the Philippines Navy.
“The aim is to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and maritime cooperation,” said a spokesperson for the Indian Navy.
During their stay, naval personnel from both countries will engage in a variety of professional interactions. These activities include subject matter expert exchanges, sports fixtures, cross-deck visits, cultural tours, and collaborative community outreach programs.
“The ships will also participate in a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with the Philippines Navy,” the spokesperson added.
This visit underscores the growing defense ties between India and the Philippines, emphasizing mutual interests in regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
