Indian President telephones Nepal’s counterpart, discuss Nepal-India ties

President Ram Chandra Paudel and his Indian counterpart Droupadi Murmu held a telephone conversation on Friday.

According to a statement by the Office of the Indian President, Murmu congratulated Paudel on assuming his office.

The President, who is currently on a tour to Kerala, called up President Paudel and congratulated him on assuming the office of the President of Nepal.

Both Presidents noted the unique and multifaceted relations between India and Nepal.

They also discussed ways to further advance bilateral cooperation and strengthen the strong bonds of friendship between the peoples of our two countries, the statement further read.

The President expressed confidence that India-Nepal bilateral relations would reach even greater heights under the guidance of President Paudel.

In an earlier congratulatory note on Monday, Murmu had said that she looks forward to working closely with Paudel in further strengthening the bilateral partnership.
