Janakpur Bolts Secure Second Consecutive Victory in NPL

Janakpur Bolts claimed their second straight win in the ongoing Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL), defeating Karnali Yaks by eight wickets in a match held today at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

The win places Janakpur Bolts at the top of the points table following a similar eight-wicket victory against Biratnagar Kings in the tournament’s inaugural match on Saturday.

Karnali Yaks batted first after winning the toss, posting a total of 141 runs for seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Gulshan Kumar Jha was the standout performer with 36 runs off 27 balls. Contributions also came from Arjun Gharti (33 runs) and skipper Sompal Kami, who remained not out on 29. Indian star Shikhar Dhawan managed 14 runs in 14 balls, including three boundaries, while Hong Kong’s Babar Hayat added 12 runs.

For Janakpur Bolts, Pakistani bowler Mohammad Mohsin Khan led the attack with two wickets, while Jimmy Neesham, Harsh Thackeray, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, and Kishore Mahato each claimed a wicket.

In response, Janakpur Bolts chased down the target of 142 runs in just 15.1 overs, losing only two wickets. Captain Anil Kumar Sah anchored the innings with an unbeaten 62 runs off 42 balls. Ashif Sheikh added 36 runs from 29 balls, Lahiru Milantha hit a quick-fire 24 runs from 13 balls, and Jimmy Neesham contributed an unbeaten 16 runs from just eight deliveries.

Karnali Yaks’ Zisham Maqsood and Mausam Dhakal managed to take one wicket each but could not prevent Janakpur Bolts’ dominant chase.

With back-to-back commanding victories, Janakpur Bolts have established themselves as early favorites in the tournament, demonstrating strong performances both with the bat and ball.
