Japan-Funded Classroom Project Inaugurated in Gorkha District
In a significant development aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure in Gorkha district, the inauguration and handover ceremony of the newly constructed classroom building at Shree Rameshwary Secondary School took place today.
The event was graced by the presence of Kikuta Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, as confirmed by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.
Funded by the Government of Japan under the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects scheme, the construction of the new classroom building marks a crucial step towards improving the educational landscape in the region.
Implemented by Japanese NGO Child Fund Japan, the project enters its second year with a three-year timeline. Besides constructing classroom buildings, the initiative aims to bolster the learning environment and boost student attendance through teacher training programs and the establishment of community-based child-friendly schools.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Kikuta commended the dedication of all stakeholders involved in the project. He expressed optimism about the efficient management and maintenance of the new facility, as well as the continuation of training programs to foster a more conducive learning atmosphere.
Highlighting Japan’s longstanding support, Ambassador Kikuta recalled the reconstruction efforts post the 2015 earthquake, emphasizing the close ties between the school and Japan.
Looking ahead, Ambassador Kikuta underscored the importance of the school’s role in disaster management initiatives, envisioning its influence spreading throughout Gorkha district and Nepal. He encouraged the students to take the lead in strengthening bilateral relations and contributing to Nepal’s development.
The inauguration of the new classroom building signifies not only infrastructural development but also a testament to the enduring friendship between Japan and Nepal, paving the way for a brighter future in education and beyond.
