Jhalanath Khanal Calls for Socio-Economic Transformation
Unified Socialist leader Jhalanath Khanal emphasized that while political rights have been achieved through various movements, the realization of socio-economic rights for citizens is still pending. Speaking at an event in Nawalparasi, the former Prime Minister highlighted the persistent issue of class-based exploitation and the need to address it.
Khanal pointed out that while freedoms such as the right to freedom of opinion and the right to assemble have been guaranteed, the transformation of society in terms of socio-economic equality is still awaited. He stressed the importance of eliminating hunger and reducing the disparities caused by class-based discrimination in the country.
The Unified Socialist leader expressed his belief that the existing capitalist system is insufficient to put an end to exploitation. Instead, he advocated for the adoption of scientific socialism as an alternative to address the socio-economic challenges facing the nation. Khanal’s remarks highlight the ongoing efforts to achieve a more equitable and just society in Nepal.
