Judicial Council Recommends Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand as Chief Judge of Pokhara High Court

The Judicial Council has recommended Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, currently serving as a judge at the temporary bench of Birgunj in High Court Janakpur, for the appointment as Chief Judge of Pokhara High Court. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, according to Judicial Council Spokesperson Ashok Kumar Chhetri.

In addition to recommending Dr. Bagchand’s appointment, the Judicial Council has also put forward the names of 35 individuals for district judge positions. Among these, 25 are from the judicial service, six from the government attorney’s office, and four from the law service.

As per constitutional provisions, the Chief Justice is responsible for appointing District Judges based on the recommendations of the Judicial Council.

Currently, there are vacancies for four judges in the Supreme Court and 10 in the High Court, highlighting the ongoing need for judicial appointments to maintain the efficiency of the legal system.
