Kathmandu Court Collects Statements from 18 Individuals in Refugee Scam
The Kathmandu District Court has recently recorded statements from 18 individuals implicated in the case involving fraudulent Bhutanese refugees. These statements were taken from defendants who are presently in custody under the jurisdiction of the district attorney’s office.
According to the Court’s information officer, the process of collecting statements from the accused concluded on Friday, and a detention hearing is scheduled to commence on Sunday. The hearing will be presided over by Judge Prem Prasad Neupane.
During the proceedings on Friday, the court recorded statements from notable figures such as former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, Bhutanese human rights advocate Teknath Rijal, and gang member Haribhakta Maharjan. The statements of the remaining individuals involved in the case had already been obtained prior to this stage.
