KMG Chairman Kailash Sirohiya Arrested

Kailash Sirohiya, the Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, was arrested by police on Tuesday afternoon.

A police team led by SSP Sanuram Bhattarai, Head of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Min Bhawan, and SP Ravindra Regmi, arrested Sirohia today at Central Business Park, the head office of Kantipur Media Group in Thapathali.

The Dhanusha District Court issued an arrest warrant for Sirohiya earlier on Tuesday. Judge Chitra Bahadur Gurung sanctioned the warrant after allegations emerged that Sirohiya possessed two citizenship certificates. A highly-placed police source confirmed the details.

The complaint, filed at the District Police Office in Dhanusha, accused Sirohiya of holding duplicate citizenship certificates. According to the Dhanusha Police, the citizenship number assigned to Sirohiya is identical to that of another individual, raising serious legal and ethical questions.
