Lalita Niwas scam: CIB granted five-day extension for investigation
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has got permission for five more days to continue investigation on 17 persons arrested in connection with Lalita Niwas land grab.
The CIB presented the accused ones before Kathmandu District Court on Sunday, to which, it got five more days for investigation on the arrested and accused ones, according to Senior Superintendent of Police, Dinesh Acharya.
The Police have been conducting probe on Secretary at Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Krishna Bahadur Raut, Proprietor of Bhatbhateni Supermarket, Min Bahadur Gurung, former Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah, and former government employees. The investigation is intensified as the case of forgery and organized crime.
A total of 143 ropanis of land was embezzled from 2049BS to 2069BS. The Lalita Niwas land belonging to the government was brought under individual ownership with forgery.
Earlier, the CIB had submitted a report with recommendation to sue 300 persons in this connection. However, the government attorney had withdrawn the report, reasoning need of additional investigation.
