Late Nembang’s Funeral Scheduled for Thursday
The funeral of the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subas Chandra Nembang, has been officially scheduled for Thursday at 11 am. This decision was reached during a CPN-UML secretariat meeting held at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur on Tuesday.
In recognition of his service, the government has announced state honors for Nembang and declared a mourning leave on the day of the funeral. The CPN-UML party, in mourning, has also suspended all official programs and lowered the party flag to half-mast for three days.
Nembang’s eldest son, Mingso Nembang, currently residing in Britain, is expected to arrive in Nepal just after 4 pm tomorrow. Meanwhile, the younger son, Suhang, who recently traveled to Australia 15 days ago, is set to return to Kathmandu at 11 pm today.
UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali has confirmed that Nembang’s body will be kept at the Party Central Office in Chyasal throughout the day tomorrow. This decision aligns with the family’s request to hold the funeral only after the arrival of both sons. Nembang is survived by two daughters who are currently in Kathmandu.
Subas Chandra Nembang passed away due to a heart attack at 1:40 pm on Monday, and he was declared dead immediately upon arrival at TU Teaching Hospital.
