Major Counterfeit Currency Bust in Bhaktapur: 1.5 Million Fake Notes Seized; Hidden Factory Uncovered

In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities in Bhaktapur have successfully intercepted a vast cache of counterfeit currency, leading to the discovery of an illicit factory responsible for producing fake notes. The operation, conducted jointly by the Thankot Police Circle and the Changunarayan Police Division, has resulted in the confiscation of fake notes amounting to a staggering 1.5 million Nepali rupees.

The meticulously executed operation unfolded in Changu Budhathokigaun, nestled within Changunarayan Municipality-4, Bhaktapur, on a fateful Thursday evening. The team of dedicated officers swiftly apprehended nine individuals believed to be connected to the counterfeit currency racket, underlining a comprehensive crackdown on this fraudulent enterprise.

Among the arrested individuals, a prominent figure emerged – 40-year-old Arjun Subedi, a resident of Balefi Municipality-7 in Sindhupalchok who had established a base of operations in Changu. The meticulous raid of Subedi’s residence unearthed a hidden factory of deception, where fake notes were being meticulously manufactured. District Police Range Bhaktapur’s Superintendent of Police, Prajit KC, confirmed the discovery, revealing that law enforcement had seized a color printer, a computer, a dozen mobile phones, and four scooters from the premises.

Shrikrishna Bhandari (23 years old) – Sunkosi Rural Municipality-6, Sindhupalchok
Sushil Karki (26 years old) – Pepsicola, Kathmandu
Parvati Nepali – Sarabal Rural Municipality-1, Nawalparasi (Currently residing in Kathmandu)
Sagar Acharya (27 years old) – Badagaon Rural Municipality-2, Gulmi (Currently residing in Samakhusi, Kathmandu)
Arjun Budha (23 years old) – Achham (Currently residing in Matatirtha, Kathmandu)
Yuvraj Rai (24 years old) – Jhapa (Currently residing in Samakhusi, Kathmandu)
