Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel Promoted to Lieutenant General- Future CoAS?
The government has officially approved the promotion of Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel to the rank of Lieutenant General. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held earlier this morning on Thursday, following a recommendation from the Nepal Army Headquarters.
Government Spokesperson and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, announced the decision, highlighting the exemplary service and dedication of Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel to the nation.
The promotion comes after the acceptance of the resignation tendered by Taradhwaj Pandey, who had initially been recommended for the position.
Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel, with his newfound rank of Lieutenant General, is now in the line of succession for the prestigious position of Chief of Army Staff (COAS). It is anticipated that he will succeed Prabhu Ram Sharma as the next COAS, marking a remarkable milestone in his distinguished military career.
