Man Dies of Rabies in Ichhakamana Due to Delayed Treatment

A 32-year-old man from Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-2 has died of rabies after failing to receive timely medical care. The deceased, identified as Min Bahadur Praja, succumbed to the disease today while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital, according to the hospital’s information officer, Gopal Poudel.

Praja had been bitten by a dog several months ago but did not seek immediate medical attention. He was admitted to the hospital only on Wednesday, by which time the infection had significantly progressed.

Health officials have reiterated the importance of seeking prompt post-exposure prophylaxis in the event of an animal bite, especially from dogs, to prevent rabies—a fatal but preventable disease.
