Manisha Koirala Calls for a Grand Welcome for Former King Gyanendra

Popular actress and social worker Manisha Koirala has urged citizens to extend a grand welcome to former King Gyanendra Shah upon his arrival at the airport today. She made the appeal through a social media post, calling on the public to gather in large numbers.

In her post, Koirala referred to the former monarch as “government” and wrote, “My heartfelt request to my respected parents, brothers, and sisters—today, the government’s vehicle is passing from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Let us come together and give the government a grand welcome.”

Despite being the granddaughter of the late BP Koirala, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress, Koirala has openly expressed support for the monarchy while distancing herself from her family’s political legacy. She has previously voiced pro-monarchy sentiments and even addressed a gathering of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), which advocates for the restoration of the monarchy in Nepal.

Her latest appeal has sparked discussions in political circles, with some seeing it as an endorsement of growing royalist sentiments in the country amid public dissatisfaction with mainstream political parties.
