Maoist Chief Whip Leads Delegation on 10-Day Visit to China: Purpose?
A 20-member delegation from the Federal Parliament of Nepal, led by Maoist Center chief whip Hitraj Pandey, departed for Beijing on Monday via Air China for a 10-day visit to China.
The delegation is a diverse representation of Nepal’s political landscape, comprising 5 members each from the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, 3 from the Maoist Center, and one each from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, and Unified Socialist Party.
The primary objective of the visit is to participate in the program of the International Business Academy under the Ministry of Commerce of China. This engagement is expected to strengthen economic ties and foster cooperation between the two nations.
During their stay in China, the parliamentary team will also explore key cities such as Beijing, Nanjing, and Giang, further enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Among the notable lawmakers in the delegation are Yuvraj Sharma, Ramnath Adhikari, Ain Bahadur Shahi, Saraswati Bajimay, and Kusum Devi Thapa from the Nepali Congress, and Damodar Bairagi, Manbir Rai, Nirmala Koirala, Rukmini Rana Barailli, and Bhagwati Neupane from the CPN UML.
Representatives Jagprasad Sharma and Narayani Sharma from the Maoist Center, along with Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey, are also part of the esteemed delegation. Additionally, Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Anisha Nepali from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Prakash Adhikari from the Janata Samajwadi Party, and Metmani Chaudhary, chief whip of the Unified Socialist Party, contribute to the diverse composition.
Key administrative figures accompanying the delegation include Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Sudarshan Khadka, Speaker’s Press Adviser Shekhar Adhikari, and Section Officer Jiwan Niraula.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on December 30, marking the conclusion of their 10-day visit.
