Minister Aman Lal Modi Recalled by Maoists to Facilitate Inclusion of Janamat Party into Government

The ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) has taken the decision to recall Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Aman Lal Modi from his position. This move comes as part of a strategic maneuver by the party to facilitate the inclusion of the CK Raut-led Janamat Party into the government.

In a meeting of senior party officials convened today, it was unanimously agreed to recall Minister Aman Lal Modi from his current role. Devendra Poudel, Secretary of the Maoist party, confirmed this decision, shedding light on the context behind the move.

The pivotal factor driving this recall is the recent entry of the Janamat Party into the government. As a response to this development, the Maoist Centre has opted to recalibrate its ministerial lineup. In place of Minister Modi, the Janamat Party’s Anita Devi Sah is slated to take up the role.

The Janamat Party’s inclusion in the government has been a subject of prior discussions. Earlier, there was a public demand for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, which led to dissatisfaction when the party was not granted this portfolio in the coalition. Subsequently, despite the appointment of Abdul Khan as the Minister of Water Supply, delays in assuming office were observed.

Abdul Khan eventually assumed the ministerial position but resigned on the 17th of Chaitra BS, citing personal reasons. With the recalibration of the government’s composition and the stepping down of Minister Modi, the stage is set for the Janamat Party to assert its role in governance.

With six Members of Parliament from the Janamat Party holding seats in the legislative body, this development underscores the evolving dynamics within Nepal’s political landscape.
