Minister Deepak Khadka Calls for Uninterrupted Development Efforts

Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has urged all concerned parties to avoid obstructing ongoing development projects. Speaking at a program organized by Dharmadevi Municipality at Mudheshanischare Bazar, Minister Khadka emphasized the importance of fully utilizing allocated budgets to meet the development needs of the local population.

During his address, Minister Khadka highlighted that the underutilization of budgets by local governments is hampering the progress of development projects. He called on people’s representatives and government employees to dedicate their efforts towards accelerating local development initiatives, especially in the energy, water resources, and irrigation sectors.

The Minister also reiterated his commitment to addressing challenges within these critical sectors, which are vital for the region’s growth.

Suresh Acharya, Secretary at the Secretariat of the Water and Energy Commission, spoke about Sankhuwasabha district’s vast potential in hydropower, tourism, and agriculture. He emphasized that by leveraging these resources, the district could achieve significant development. Acharya mentioned the secretariat’s ambitious goal of generating 28,500 MW of electricity within the next decade.

Gopal Prasad Sigdel, Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, provided an update on electrification efforts, stating that 90% of Sankhuwasabha has been fully electrified. This marks a significant achievement in improving the district’s infrastructure and quality of life.

Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation, Sanjeev Baral, announced plans to implement small-scale irrigation projects in Sankhuwasabha. These projects are designed with consideration of the region’s vulnerability to landslides, ensuring that they are both effective and safe for the hilly district.

The program highlighted the government’s focus on addressing local challenges and harnessing the district’s potential to drive development.
