Minister Saud calls for support from all sides for Khaptad’s development
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Prakash Saud said the Sudurpaschim region is popular for hydropower, agriculture, cultural heritage and tourism.
Launching a music video titled ‘Khaptad Series-2’ amidst a programme in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Minister Saud said the Sudurpaschim province was also spectacular due to availability of religious sites and cultural heritages.
“Sudurapschim province is rich with natural resources and heritages compared to other provinces. Avenues of development potentials are opening up here”.
The Minister, also the Nepali Congress leader, said farmlands in Kalilalia and Kanchanpur were fertile for agriculture production and greater productivity. “The Mahakali and Karnali are available for irrigation facility”, he said, adding, “The Sudurapschim also ranks as the most potential in terms of hydropower production”.
Three among the five largest rivers of Nepal are located in Sudurpaschim, Minister Saud noted. He urged all sides to lend support in unleashing full development potentials of the province, particularly popular Khaptad area.
Also speaking on the occasion, former Minister Prem Bahadur Ale said the music video will play crucial role in making wider publicity of Khaptad region at home and abroad.
At the programme, CPN (Maoist) leader and Sudurpaschim province lawmaker Shiva Singh Oli and NC leader and Constituent Assembly member Bharat Bahadur Khadka, among others, said all three tiers of governments should lend support for development of Khaptad region.
