Monsoon Rainfall Forecast: Expect Above-Average Precipitation

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted a wetter-than-usual monsoon season this year. During a recent gathering hosted by the National Monsoon Forum, meteorologist Sudarsan Humagai revealed their predictions.

According to the department’s analysis, most regions across the country are expected to experience rainfall ranging from 35.4 to 55.4 percent above the average for the monsoon season. Notably, the Sudurpashim Province’s north-west, Bagamati’s south-east, Madhesh’s central areas, and Koshi Province’s central and mid-western regions are likely to receive rainfall exceeding 35.4 to 65.5 percent of the norm.

Similarly, the Karnali’s western part, Gandaki’s central area, and Koshi’s north-eastern region may witness rainfall surpassing the average by 35 to 45 percent.

Overall, the department predicts a minimum increase in precipitation of 35 to 65 percent across most parts of the country during the upcoming monsoon season.
