Monsoon-Related Disasters Claim 124 Lives Across Nepal

The death toll from monsoon-related disasters, including landslides and floods, has reached 124 since June 10, according to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dan Bahadur Karki. The fatalities have been reported across various provinces in Nepal:

  • Kathmandu Valley: 2
  • Koshi Province: 22
  • Madhes Province: 5
  • Bagmati Province: 19
  • Gandaki Province: 38
  • Lumbini Province: 23
  • Karnali Province: 7
  • Sudurpaschim Province: 8

In addition to the fatalities, 140 people have been injured in these disasters:

  • Kathmandu Valley: 8
  • Koshi Province: 34
  • Madhes Province: 9
  • Bagmati Province: 7
  • Gandaki Province: 29
  • Lumbini Province: 9
  • Karnali Province: 33
  • Sudurpaschim Province: 11

Rescue operations have saved 53 individuals, with 41 rescued in Koshi Province and 12 in Gandaki Province. However, eight people remain missing due to monsoon-induced disasters:

  • Koshi Province: 2
  • Bagmati Province: 2
  • Madhes Province: 1
  • Gandaki Province: 1
  • Karnali Province: 1
  • Sudurpaschim Province: 1

Search efforts for the missing are ongoing. The Simaltal incident’s missing persons are not included in the current tally.

The disasters have caused significant property damage, with 182 houses waterlogged, and 218 houses, 80 huts, 43 bridges, one school, and two government offices damaged. Additionally, 584 cattle have perished, and 3,702 families have been displaced due to these incidents.

The authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide assistance to affected families as rescue and relief operations proceed.
