Monsoon to Bring Heavy Rainfall Across Nepal Today, Department Warns of Floods and Landslides
The weather across Nepal is expected to remain generally cloudy to completely overcast today due to the active influence of monsoon winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is forecast for several areas in all provinces.
Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two locations in Koshi, Madhes, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while very heavy rain could occur in isolated spots across Koshi, Madhes, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim, the Department warned.
As for tonight, the cloudy conditions will persist across the country. The forecast includes light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in Koshi, Bagmati, Madhes, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Heavy to very heavy rain may strike one or two areas in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Additionally, the Department noted the possibility of storms in parts of the Tarai region.
The Department further predicted continued rainfall over the next 24 hours, with light to moderate rain expected in all provinces. However, there is a higher risk of heavy rain in certain locations and very heavy rain in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
In light of the weather warnings, the Department has urged caution, particularly in areas prone to floods, landslides, and urban or Tarai inundation. Residents and authorities are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid potential damage from the severe weather.
